Make real progress on your memoir or nonfiction book! You’ll work with an experienced, published author and your classmates to write and revise your manuscript. In this critique-focused workshop, there are no lectures, reading assignments or exercises. Instead, you will focus on writing tips and reminders throughout. You should be prepared to 7,000 words (approximately 28 manuscript pages) and a short synopsis of your book (500 to 750 words maximum) on the course start date.

Course Structure:
This course focuses on writing and critiquing, with five three-week sessions. At the beginning of each session, you will submit 7,000 words (approximately 28 manuscript pages) to the instructor for review and for group critique. There will be no lectures, reading assignments or exercises for this workshop, but we’ll give you plenty of tips and reminders along the way. Because you will be expected to submit your work at the beginning of each session, you should have your first 7,000-word submission AND a short synopsis of your book (500 to 750 words maximum) prepared prior to the class start date. In this course you will:
- Write and submit five 7,000 word sections (140 pages total) of your nonfiction book or memoir
- Work with your peers and instructor to provide feedback on others manuscripts
Who should take this course:
- Writers who have already written more than 7,000 words on their Memoir or Nonfiction book and want to receive feedback on up to a total of 35,000 words during the course
- Nonfiction book writers who want to make real progress towards publication
- Advanced students looking for key insights from a Published Author to help polish their work
